The Rundown
Thor: Love and Thunder is the sequel to 2017's Thor: Ragnarok and the fourth Thor movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and 29th overall. In this movie Thor (Chris Hemsworth) is settling in nicely in retirement after bidding goodbye to the Guardians of the Galaxy gang when his peace is interrupted by Gorr 'the god butcher' (Christian Bale), whose mission is to kill every god. It's up to Thor….and friends to stop him.
The Review
Thor Ragnarok was a hit! It was funny, and action-filled and this sequel matched up to its predecessor. With a stellar cast including Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Christian Bale (Gorr) Russel Crowe (Zeus), Natalie Portman (Dr. Foster)  Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie) & Taika Waititi (Korg) who also doubles up as director, Thor: Love and Thunder is the perfect medley of action, adventure, comedy and romance.
MCU fans familiar with the franchise's other films will acknowledge the ode to The Avengers. How the biggest names in the galaxy and god world come together to help one of their own in their mission to save the universe from a villain with a personal vendetta.
Dr. Jane Foster, who is Thor's ex-girlfriend (but still very much his love interest), is battling a grim diagnosis in the earth realm. She visits the New Asgard realm hoping to get a remedy when she finds out Gorr is on the rampage.
Thor's old, iconic hammer Mjolnir takes a liking to her and  bonds itself to Foster after sensing her worthiness - granting her the power of Thor. Thor eventually arrives in New Asgard and bumps into her. Their awkward encounter is comedic gold and yet, really sweet. The hammer and Thor's new weapon of choice Stormbreaker develop a sort of rivalry and it's hilarious to see them seek Thor's attention.
Thor teams up with Valkyrie, Korg, and Foster to fight Gorr and his shadow creatures. This formidable team then goes on a perilous journey that features kidnapped kids, seemingly invincible shadow creatures, hedonistic gods, lots of love and heartbreak.
The CGI is out of this world, the jokes are witty, the action intense and the acting range is award-worthy.
Portman and Hemsworth have such great chemistry as an on-screen couple and queer viewers will appreciate the nod to queer relationships highlighted in this film.
Yet another win for MCU.
The Hits
  • Dr. Jane Foster in her element with the hammer and jokes inspite and despite her diagnosis.
  • The stellar cast really carried their own weight in this film.
  • If there's one thing MCU knows to do is play with CGI!
The Misses
  • There's a Zeus part that's uncomfortable to watch and so unnecessary.
OMG Moment
There are many but the battle at the Shadow realm was breathtaking
