Meet Shehzana Anwar Kenya Olympics

Shehzana Anwar is the only Kenyan archer at the Rio Olympics 2016. So much pressure for a 26-year-old to be the only one to represent her country in such an ‘odd’ category. Odd because Kenyans are not known for archery, just like we weren’t known for javelin until Julius Yego YouTubed his way into fame.

Like Yego, Shehzana is going for nothing less than gold in Rio. In January 2016, she won a gold medal at the African Archery Championships in Namibia, bagging a ticket to the Olympics.

Click through to the DStv website to learn eight interesting facts about Shehzana Anwar, Kenya’s flag bearer at the Rio Olympics opening ceremony.

Join other Kenyans and cheer on this extraordinary Kenyan Olympian as she takes part in the Round of 64 Archery Women’s Individual on Monday, 8 August, live and in HD on SuperSport.
