Kenya’s IMAX Theater NOW OPEN!

30 Mar 2012 | By Andrew Onyango

IMAX theaters are something most of us have heard of but very few of us have ever experienced. However, the good news in Kenya seems to be flowing like the fresh new oil fields of Turkana.

We are now one of the many global locations hosting the gigantic theatres, at the well known meeting point of 20th Century Plaza, located in the heart of the Nairobi Central Business District.

The theater is here thanks to Blue Sky World Ltd and Angel Media Ltd who signed the deal with IMAX to construct the theater here in Kenya.

The “Big Deal” about the IMAX theaters is the size and sound boost. Two theatres have been knocked down in 20th Century to merge them into one with a screen span of 155M2 (17M*9M) accompanied by 12,000 watts of digital surround sound, twin 6,000 Watt projectors working simultaneously to stimulate each eye for a 3D experience and a seating capacity of 255 seats.

The best way to describe an IMAX theatre is “an immersive experience”. The theater is currently open to the public with a daily 24hr rotation of Wrath Of The Titans.

In addition to the theater, Blue Sky Limited  is unveiling a VIP lounge complete with live entertainment, DJ nights, Karaoke nights, sheesha smoking area and a fully equipped bar.

Basically, a full entertainment package has just been put smack dab in the middle of the city. This is convenient to multiple transport terminals and safe ATM’s vestibules.  See you at the show!
