'BoJack Horseman' Season 5: A Visceral Montage of Sadness

BoJack is less of a misanthrope and bit more selfless in this season. He is still a nihilist, still wallows in self- pity sometimes, is still very self destructive and depressed.The breakdown:-BoJack Horseman is forced to face the fact that he had a hand in Sara Lynn's death.  He was her only father figure and when she turned to him, he slept with her and when she decided to get sober, he came back to her life and took her on a month long drug bender which led to her overdose and eventual death - These are Diane Nguyen's words and aptly summarize that dark episode in Season 3 when we lost Sara Lynn. His encounter in New Mexico with Charlotte's teenage daughter comes to the fore when Diane confronts him after Ana Spanakopita plays him a recording in which BoJack narrates the events of that night. The fact that he is not sure what would have happened if Charlotte hadn't walked in on them makes you wonder, is Bojack a sexual predator? Does is matter that 17 is the age of consent in New Mexico is 17  or is it just out of line that he is in his late 40s and considered having sex with a 17 year old, whether it was legal or not.- BoJack's addiction to painkillers and how he consistently refuses to get help. Although, the show ends on a hopeful note when he checks into a rehab with Diane's help.-Diane deals with her recent divorce with Mr. Peanutbutter by taking a trip to Vietnam.-Princess Carolyn plans to adopt a baby but she has to weigh her career against the new responsibility that will come with her being a parent. BoJack, Diane, Mr. Peanubutter and Flip - the writer of Philbert, the new show she is producing, need to give her break for goodness sake. They are such babies honestly, she has to put out their fires at the expense of her life.-Mr. Peanutbutter realizes the common reason for the failure of his previous marriages is that he dates women who are in their 20s when he is well over 40. He also gets disillusioned over his new relationship with Pickles and realises he still has feelings for Diane.
