We all know that Beyoncé is the queen when it comes to the stage. Her performance at the 2016 VMA Awards served well to remind us of this fact. Bey had an entire 15 minutes performance to herself, a showcase entirely focused on her recent visual album, ‘Lemonade’.

She definitely looks like a mad woman during the performance. From the white cloaks and black lace, to the 1000 dancers accompanying her stage presence, to the visual lights, décor and ambience, and the look on her face.

Queen Bey started off with ‘Pray you catch me’ and ‘Hold Up’, transitioned to ‘Sorry’, then ‘Don’t hurt yourself’ and finally, ‘Formation’. Sampled in her performance were poetry quotes from her visual album, which helped to flawlessly transition from one song to another.

It’s obvious Bey has a way of making her presence felt on stage. I for once couldn’t get my eyes away from her until after she was done with her performance.

I guess the coolest part about it all was during ‘Hold Up’, when she literally holds her ‘hot sauce’ in her hand and hits the camera as seen in the actual video.

Beyoncé destroyed the show. That’s obvious. And to add to it all, won seven awards on the same night, surpursing Madonna as artist with the most VMA Awards. Some of the notable awards she won include: ‘Video of the year for Formation’ and ‘Breakthrough long-form video award for Lemonade’.
