The inaugural Taste Awards, organized by Taste Events LTD, are happening on December 1st 2011 at the Tribe Hotel.
Restaurants, bars and eating spots all over the city are battling it out for awards in two main categories including The Prestige Awards and The People's Choice Awards.

The People's Choice Awards are decided by public online vote and KenyaBuzz is proudly sponsoring the category for Best Value for Money. Dining is more than just eating, the factors to consider include ambience, service, portions, entertainment and hospitality. The public will vote for which food spot gives the best return in the mentioned considerations for the amount they charge. Other awards in this category are Up Magazine's Best Culinary Experience, Senator's Best Business Lunch, Kiss 100's Best Food On The Go, Best Family Experience, Best Food Court, Best Coffee House and Heineken's best bar and night scene.

The Prestige awards are decided by a judge panel consisting of well known personalities in Nairobi recognized as food connoisseurs and beverage specialists. However, the organizers are holding the judges' names secret until they have finished their review. In this category, bars and restaurants will be up for award as MasterCard's Restaurant of The Year, Heineken's Bar Of The Year, Bidco Chef of The Year, Hennessy Bartender of the Year, Most Innovative and Jaguar's Newcomer of the year.

Voters are up for awards of their own as well. Those who log on to the online voting site and cast their vote for their favorite spots stand a chance of winning a Ksh 50,000 Senator MasterCard, Heineken Merchandise, Eat Out dining vouchers, Bidco Gift Hampers and Tickets to the Taste Awards complete with a luxury chauffer driven ride to the venue in a brand new Jaguar.

Part of the proceeds from the awards will go towards Tandawazi Festival which is a Dance, Music & Martial Arts festival. Tandawazi celebrates Kenyan cultural diversity through music, dance and movement. Tandawazi proceeds in turn go to Project Baraza which is an initiative created to build and refurbish community youth centers in under-privileged areas.

Voting closes on the 26th of November 2011 to pave way for the evaluation process ahead of the ceremony on December 1st. So hurry up and cast your vote and crown Kenya's food and hospitality leaders.
